cookies galore
I am half way through the 200 cookies I'm making for VBS this week. I opted for no-bakes as they won't heat up the house so much. I'm being very cautious with the big electrical stuff in the house as we had a major dilema last week with the dryer vs. the fuse box. Fuse box won.
I thought I'd be making a few dozen cookies but they asked if I could make enough for one night. 2 cookies each x 100ish kids = Di sweating over the stove for several hours longer than she anticipated. What else is new???!!!!
My son is now 6! Yikes!
My daughter found her backpack for school. The Disney Princess's of course. It turned out to be only $5 at the Family Dollar. Much better than the Brat Dolls one at the Walmart. She doesn't know shit about Bratz. At least this one I know she knows who the damn characters are. Did I ever mention that I hate licensed stuff?? My kids are to little to understand the whole marketing world and they are suckered right on in to wanting what they know blazened across their backs. Hell Avery was falling apart the other day because I wouldn't bend on the Bratz one. I knew she'd find one she would like so much better......she is so a teenager in a four year old body. Can't wait to go school clothes shopping.
Hoping to lay low this week as last week totally kicked my ass. Off to lay on the couch and read Tapping the Dream Tree by Charles DeLint.......I love fairy tales.

Big Throwdown Tour II
Well, once again Toby has came and went from my life like a hot sweaty summer storm. Wow, I love him!! We had a great time. Mike got to go with me thanks to my crazy friend, we'll call her "ticket whore". The boys got to sit right behind us in the 3rd row. I ended up pressed against the fence by the stage before the night was out. Mike and I have had two dates in the past month! What is this about??!! And this last was a threesome....or at least as close as we'll get.......mmmmmToby.
The show although fantastic wasn't as good as it was last year. Now, I'm getting picky. For one, the humidity level was ridiculous. I am not one to complain about the heat but I was melting. Everyone was ringing with sweat. Toby had sweat running down the front of his guitar.....mmmmmmToby.
For two, he wasn't quite as animated as he was last year. He also didn't do so much posing for the pictures. I haven't even bothered taking the film for developing yet as I already know they aren't as good as the ones I have. I'm sure you must make some adjustments as the entertainer so you don't expire from the heat. He did see us and give us a nod during "I love this bar" when he saw our shirts from the "I love this bar & grill, Las Vegas". Which was cool.
For three, Kim's kids were distracting for her because it was really, really loud. She didn't think about ear plugs but, Mark took them out and got them some food and a drink and they watched from a distance. They are both saying they had a blast and Kim is dying because she spent $300 a seat for them to catch lightening bugs out in the concession area. Lesson learned. We have vowed to go alone next year.....or at least no kids.
For four, there was no runway. No way to get close enough to him. NO chance of a touch. When you were within arm's reach of him for the whole show last year and to be 10 to 12ft away this year was a big disappointment. Although, I knew about this ahead of time, I was not expecting to feel like he was trying to avoid me. I felt like we were in the lawn.....I'm such a spoiled brat.
We ended our night at the Waffle House...."scattered, covered, smothered".....I love the Waffle House.
The limo was good although the a/c wasn't working so well. My new t-shirt is awesome. It's my favorite picture out of this cd. I really had every intention of getting a new hat. Maybe I'll order one online. The shirt was too good to pass up.
MMMMMM.....Toby........I may not be as good as I once was, but I'm as good once, as I ever was.

The Great Floor Adventure
Friday
2pm Mike comes home early we decide to head to Lancaster to get the sander. YEA!!
Saturday
7:30am I leave for work.
11:30am My parents pick up my kids...who were waiting on the front porch with their bag.
11:35am Mike starts in on the floors alone.
3:30pm Mike calls me at work and says he's DONE! But not done with the floors, just sick of it all.
5:00pm I leave work.
6:00pm I get home.
6:05pm I get demonstation on the sander that is not working very well.
6:30pm Decided we had to strip the floors.
6:35pm Off to Walmart for stripper and supplies.
7:30pm Eating dinner on way home at cute little restaurant in town that features prime rib on the weekends.
8:00pm Start stripping....very messy
9:00pm Katye called and offered some extra hands.....at this point we know we're in trouble and welcome the extra help......to hell with the fancy sex!
10:00pm Katye arrives with her own knee pads and scrapers, chips and pop.....what a gal!!
Sunday
2:30am Take a break from the stripping and eat a turkey sandwich.
4:30am We're out of stripper with a 4x4 square left to do....we say fuck it and go to bed....Katye went on home.
8:45am get up and get moving.....Mike returned the sander at Lowe's in Lancaster because we were convinced that it was worn out as the sanding pads wouldn't stay on. I head to Athens to get their's. Feeling good.
10:00am Second sander is NOT WORKING!!! Same thing.....sanding pads that are $5 a pack are flying off right and left.
12:00pm Mike's one brother shows up and tells us we have the wrong type of sander for this particular project. GREAT
2:00pm After having called all over the county and the surrounding counties for a drum type sander to no avail, I return the 2nd wrong sander to Athens along with $200 in sandpaper.
4:30pm Moving on to PLAN D.....went to dinner at the Mexican place.....it was yummy.....and on to the movies to see Batman Begins which was great! This is the first date I've had with my husband since Preston was born.
Monday
7:30am Go down to the savings hardware to rent their drum sander. No bag for it there so had to go to Nelsonville to pick up theirs. (Mike decided he'd take the day off about halfway through Sunday)
10:30am This is what I'm talking about! This sander means buisness!! But still would have had to strip off the old paint anyway, so I'm happy that's done.
5:00pm Still sanding in living room....ugh....definetly better though....definetly no time to do our bedroom. At this point will be pleased if one room gets done.
12:00am Living room is done except the edges, and dining room has been started.
Tuesday
4:30am Mike leaves for work.
8:00am I head back to Nelsonville to rent their edger. Our little belt sander wasn't getting it at all.
9:30am I'm sanding like crazy.
3:30pm Mike comes in and takes over the edger and sands away. I'm still working on the dining room with the big sander.
11:00pm Finished.....at least with the sanding....Mike is loading up the sanders in the car and I am once again on my hands and knees wiping Mineral Spirits over the wood to prepare it for the polyurethane.
11:30pm Sliced the top of my foot open on the ductwork.....ouch.....shit....there is blood on the floor. I had to sand out my blood spot.....grrrr
12:00am READY TO POLYURETHANE!!! Oh NO.....the broom handle won't thread into the lambs wool mop head that I need to put on the poly. Back to Walmart.....getting more discouraged by the minute.
Wednesday
12:45am New broom handle works.....HOORAY
1:30am Finished with the first coat of polyurethane. Hit the bed.
5:00am Mike goes to work.
5:30am I'm once again on all fours with the steel wool pads and tack cloths preparing for coat number 2.
7:30am Finished coat 2 of poly.
8:00am I have to take the sanders back.....I have no easy way out of my house.
8:30am Have moved a ladder from the deck through the kids' bedroom window, down the hall, and out the playroom window to the grass below. With my purse in hand I climbed out the window and shinnied down the ladder and off I went to return the sanders.
9:15am Return home with a cup of coffee and a muffin....up the ladder I went.
9:30am Took a two hour nap.
11:30am started preparing for round 3
1:30pm Coat 3 is in place....I read a book for a while.
4:30pm Mike comes home from work.
7:00pm My parents bring back my kids along with dinner from the KFC.
9:00pm My parents leave.
**we have to walk on the floor in only socks until Sunday....we have passed the critical 24hr after last coat mark with out any trauma. We can start moving our furniture back into place by Monday.
**Thank you Katye.......you really helped to bail us out.
**Thanks for all of your happy thoughts and words of encouragement along the way. It's been a long week...
Friday, July 1st......we are going to see Red, White & Boom in Columbus. Mike is working on the 23rd floor of the Columbus One building and we get to watch from there. I've never been so we are all very excited.
