Day 4........
Today has been an amazing day. First I must report that I am adjusting to the way of .....let's say refueling.........my body. This week I have conquered the Pizza Hut lunch buffet, stared a Hershey bar right between the eyes, and stopped short of consuming an entire plate of chicken enchiladas. I CAN DO THIS!! I AM DOING THIS!! Hooray for me!
I took the kids to the fairgrounds today for the 6th annual Kid Palooza. We had a fantastic time. We also had an extra along for the ride....Marcus, who is not quite two was spending the day while his mama taught a school program. The kids were great! It was drizzling and awful outside but it didn't matter...this event was so well organized and strictly designed for preschoolers and toddlers...they just quickly moved all the events inside a building. They had a dj playing the Baha Men..."Who let the dogs out"..Preston was in his glory! We planted seeds, played with homemade play dough, got finger printed, pictures taken, played with rhythm instruments while a very nice lady played the autoharp...we danced and danced and hoola hooped, chased bubbles from the bubble machine and got to jump in the blow up jumpy thing that costs a couple of bucks everywhere else. This little town never ceases to amaze me! I am always pleasantly surprised at everything we attend here. And these were all local sponsers, like insurance companies and the radio station, the library, the parks, etc. I love the sense of community here.
Today was also a big day for Mike. He caught not one , not two, but THREE small mouths bass weighing in around 5lbs each!!! The man at the bait shop is taking them to mount because they are bigger than the ones he already has on his wall. Now to you and me this may not be a big deal....but to a fisherman this is a dream come true. It is a rarity to ever in your fishing lifetime to catch this big of a fish....small mouth bass anyhow. But three in one afternoon...is unheard of! And believe me this was no "fish story". And the sparkle in my husband's eyes told the tale. He is "the man". As he very plainly explained to the owner of the bait shop that he frequents so very much, "this had nothing to do with luck....and everything to do with knowledge and experience." Wise words for my husband who is convinced that it had nothing at all to do with the fact that he happened to be in the right place at the right time for a change.
I'd like to know what happened to my 10 bucks if he caught those fish on jigs.....Gosh, I know way more about this than I ever cared too.
In other news......me and the kids spent the evening last night with my in laws watching the CMT Flameworthy awards. Go Toby Go!! Who's your Daddy??? He of course won 3 of the 4 awards that he was nominated for. Thank you Kymmie for voting 16+ times for video of the year as I was not close to the computer. And wow!! He is one hunka hunka! mmmhhhmmm
It has been a great week......day 2 was pretty shaky...lots of growling tummy....but I have survived and am conquering!! And now I have just read that a new asian elephant was born at the zoo last Friday! YEA!! Ready girls....nothing like a new baby to organize the posse???!!!
I am woman...hear me roar!!
