Traits of a true friend
I have been blessed to have several people in my life whom I consider friends. I would just like to put a reminder out there about what I consider traits of a true friend.....
Eager to listen.....giving input as needed...knowing when to push, and when to push harder, and when to back off.
Happy to help....always giving of themselves....coming to the rescue....sometimes without even being summoned.
Willingly compliments....and means it.
Great sense of humor...let's face it, this world needs some more laughter.
Sharing.....be it computer knowledge, books, baking powder, tampons.....day or night.....just because
Child care swapping......seriously, who doesn't need a break sometimes??
Encouragement....with day to day life, dieting, exercising, raising the kids to be the best that this world has to offer.....
The ability to scrape shit out of other peoples washing machines that have been seriously neglected. :)
The willingness to play hard, fight tough, and love unconditionally.
You all know who you are and where you stand in my life. Or at least I hope you do. I love you all so....and I'm glad to be part of this journey with you.

Survivors!!!!
Tonight was our preschool orientation and meet the teacher night. Mike came home from work half sick with a big sinus headache. I almost puked in the shower from the anxiety I was feeling leading up to this evening. I had been prepping Preston about this day, and it had finally arrived. I made sure that he and Avery both took naps this afternoon to help with the "my-daddy-is-home-and-I'm-gonna-cry-all-evening-because-I'm-exhausted" thing.
Promptly at 6:10pm we were all dressed in our fancy- going- to- the- new -school -duds and were in the car and heading out. Mike and I were ready for a terrified child. We were prepared to grab the first trash can for the inevitable puke. Had a big ole wad of kleenex for the weeping boy child. We were prepared for all of those disasters and then some. What we were NOT prepared for was the "dissing" that we got. My boy walked up to his teacher and introduced himself. He was beaming! We sat through the little talk from the principal with these two beautiful angel babies who were behaving themselves like they REALLY DO KNOW GOOD MANNERS!! When the time came to see the classroom our family walked together to the room and then **BAMM** we were dissed. They both hit the door running and never looked back, heading in opposite directions to boot. Mike and I found ourselves in a corner all alone watching our babies growing up before our very eyes. They were big kids. Interacting with other kids, as well as adults, like they owned the place. Kind, sharing, waiting patiently for their turn.......WHO ARE THESE KIDS AND WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH MY HOOLIGANS????!!!! We were so proud and so heartsick all at the same time. It was a very strange feeling.
He did it. With no tears, no fussing, no complaining, no puking....nothing. He is ready, he is excited, he picked out his own name from the apples on the bulletin board!!! What is right with that??!!
We are survivors of the "parental dissing".

Life of Liesure
So the babysitting is finally over. Only my own two kids today and of course, Dingo. It is almost noon and we are all still in pj's. Yea!
Dingo is doing well. As long as we are paying attention he has no accidents in the house. He is warming up to Mike finally. I was starting to worry. The pup would tremble and hide at the sound of his voice. For those of you who may not know Mike so well, he ALREADY fears that the powers of the universe have it in for him. And then being shunned by "man's best friend" was almost the straw that broke the camel's back...his feelings were hurt because the dog wasn't liking him so much. Mike and the kids went to ride quad's at his brothers on Saturday and he took the dog along. I was happy about that. We all went fishing yesterday and Dingo and the kids ended up playing in the lake. They all had a lot of fun. It was a good day.
I made some zucchini bread this morning and I'm gonna go have some....warm with real butter!!!!!!

Meet Dingo
Hey everyone, my name is Dingo. I am an Australian Shepherd. I am 12wks old. And last Wednesday I became the first ever Hileman family Dog. With my icy-blue eyes and my "blue merle" coat I am the most wickedly beautiful dog they have ever seen. My award winning personality is sure to please as well.
I'm having a little trouble getting the potty training part, but as I've over-heard stories about my human counter part, Avery, this is to be expected. It took her months and months to get it. These silly human children are trying to get me to mimick their playing. They play and play "fetch" with all of my toys so I only see it as fair to play with some of their things. This little white shoe looks good.....mmmmm.. how about some of my human Daddy's underpants??!!! MMMM, fresh off the ass on the bathroom floor.....just the way I like 'em!
They meant well when they borrowed a kennel from their friend Heike. It's no use to me. I'm WAY above crate training. I'll show them. Cage me up like some common mutt....HA!! I'll just bark and bark, and barkandbarkandbarkandbark.....they are a sucker for a good night's sleep. Managed to make my way onto the foot of the bed on the 2nd night here. Hooray for me! Uh-Oh! What's this??!! The little human children are invading my sleeping space! WHAT??!! It's 2AM!! What are they doing in here?? GGGGrrrrrrrrrr!! Oh well, I'll cut them some slack and I'll go back to my cozy corner behind the couch.
Maybe this week I'll show them how to really play fetch!
Maybe I will avoid another swat from the big mean bitch cat!
Maybe I will stop pooping on the floor....
As I always say, "Welcome to Puppyhood". Everyone loves me!
